Gregg Carter – Rural Economist

In today’s podcast I interview Gregg Carter: homesteader, writer and entrepreneur. He gives us insight into the Micro/Cottage business model and shares the benefits and challenges of running a micro/cottage business. He just published a book: Micro and Cottage Businesses: What you Need to Know and How to Get Started.

For the worldview segment I talk about cottage food laws…specifically, the lack of a cottage food law in Idaho and how the health districts regulate the industry. The fact that you need a law stating that you can do something should give us all pause. Additionally, it is immoral and unethical for large “associations” that represent big comercial businesses to try and “regulate” out small, family minded, cottage businesses all in the name of “safety.” The true agenda is the smashing of competition.
