Journey with us as we rediscover the lost arts of womanhood.

Podcast 19:

Today’s podcast we cover the very important topic of home preparedness. We quickly review a few of the suggestions that Sean gives in the free e-book available from The Courageous Life Podcast when you sign up for our newsletter. The suggestions we cover are how to build a home Grab-and-Go binder, emergency binder, planning for a fire and home emergency drill.

Then we give quick and easy instructions on how to make fresh, homemade butter. Check out our recipe page for detailed photos and instructions. Please let us know if you make it or do any of the suggestions we mention today. We’d love to see photos on Facebook or Twitter (@MatronandMaiden).

Podcast 18:

In today’s podcast we discussed the importance of including children in the running of the home. The kitchen is one of those places that tends toward chaos if everyone isn’t contributing and taking care of their own things. Since my children were little I have looked for ways to have them helping me so the load of the kitchen doesn’t fall on one person (normally mom). In this episode I give a couple of tips and we also talk about the why’s of including children. Linde shares her experience doing chores and how it effects the way she feels about her day – it might surprise you! Work is a blessing, if we can change our thinking, we will be able to give the children more work around the house without feeling guilty. We are MANAGERS of our homes, this does not mean we do it all.

Podcast 17:

If you missed the blog about making homemade yogurt then this podcast will basically recap what was written. Honestly, we’re saving money and learning a valuable skill. Yogurt is so good for your digestive system particularly plain, homemade yogurt from raw milk. It’s actually easy to do and tastes delicious!

We also talked about our new Electric Pressure Cooker. What a great kitchen tool it is. We’ve used it almost every day since getting it and have been more than pleased with everything. The flavor is phenomenal not to mention the speed and quality of the food. Supposedly with pressure cooking much of the nutrients stay in the food since we’re not over-cooking it and it’s trapping everything in. We haven’t done that much research on it but we can see how that could be true.

If you are looking for a good spaghetti sauce recipe that will also hide some of those vegetables that your family may have issues with, then head over to our recipes page and check out the one we posted. Remember that this recipe isn’t always the same for us, if we have different vegetables or no vegetables we just adjust things and make something different. Cooking is an art…make it your own style.
